How does Vinted work for sellers in the US?

9 min read

Vinted works for sellers in the US like this: you list an item for free, and the buyer pays for shipping and Vinted's fee at checkout. You ship with the prepaid label Vinted gives you, within 5 business days. After delivery, the money can take about 11 days to reach your US bank.

If you already sell on eBay or Poshmark, listing and shipping a Vinted sale won't surprise you. The money is the part to learn, because it makes a few stops before your bank. These are Vinted's rules as of October 2026 and Vinted can change them, so open the linked page before you plan around a deadline.

How does Vinted work for sellers, step by step?

Six steps run from listing to bank. The clocks inside them are Vinted's stated limits, not typical times.

  1. List the item for freeUp to 20 photos, the details and a price, with every flaw shown (Uploading step by step).
  2. A buyer pays and a label appearsVinted emails you a prepaid label and puts it in your inbox.
  3. Ship with that labelUse the carrier the buyer chose, inside Vinted's shipping window.
  4. The order completesThe buyer confirms, or the confirmation window closes.
  5. Your money moves to AvailableVinted holds a sale in your Wallet as Pending, which you can't spend or withdraw, until the order completes. Then it becomes Available.
  6. Withdraw to your US bankVinted sends it to the bank account you've linked.

What do you need before your first sale?

An activated Wallet and a US bank account. Activate the Wallet before your first sale or during it. Otherwise the order may cancel automatically (Activate your Vinted Wallet).

Activation asks for your full name, date of birth, address and SSN where applicable, and/or a copy of a passport, ID card or driver's license where applicable. You can't edit your name or date of birth in the Wallet yourself afterwards, so enter them carefully.

Withdrawals go out in US dollars to a bank account with an account and routing number, and one bank account can't serve two Vinted accounts. Vinted's payment provider can also pause withdrawals until you pass an identity check (How to withdraw earnings).

What does it cost to sell on Vinted?

Nothing to list and nothing to sell: the full selling price goes to your Wallet (Is selling on Vinted free?). The buyer pays shipping and Vinted's fee on top, so you don't back a selling fee out of your price.

That buyer fee varies with the item, the order value and whether it's a single item or a bundle, and it shows in the price breakdown on each listing. Vinted's help page calls it the Vinted fee and its Price List calls it the Buyer Protection fee. We haven't typed the rate here because Vinted changes it. To size it, work it out on the price you'd list at and add it to that price: the total is what your buyer sees. Our fee comparison page sets Vinted's fee beside the other marketplaces.

Sales tax goes on top of the buyer's price where Vinted collects it and doesn't change your earnings. Where Vinted doesn't collect it, you may have to collect it and pay it to the state once your sales pass that state's threshold. Ask your state's Department of Revenue (Sales tax on Vinted: info for sellers).

The one thing you can choose to pay for is a Bump. It lifts a listing in newsfeeds and search for 3 or 7 days, or until the item sells, and Vinted shows the price when you pay.

How does shipping work on Vinted, and who pays?

The buyer pays for shipping and picks the carrier at checkout. You ship on that carrier with the prepaid label Vinted generates for that order. Send the parcel any other way and Vinted can't track it, so it cancels the order and refunds the buyer.

Under Settings, then Shipping, you choose which carriers to offer, though you can't switch them all off. Once an order exists, the carrier, label type, address and package size are locked, and the only fix is to cancel and repeat the order.

A lost or damaged parcel can earn compensation if it went out on the Vinted label, was packed properly and the carrier confirms it. Photograph the item and the packed parcel, inside and out, before it ships (Selling basics).

When do you get paid on Vinted?

Not when the buyer pays, and not when you ship. The payout clock starts at delivery, so here is one sale on a calendar. A parcel is delivered on a Monday and the buyer does nothing. The order completes on Wednesday, 2 days after delivery. By Friday the money has moved from Pending to Available. You withdraw that day, and at the slow end it lands in your bank the following Friday, 5 business days later. That is 11 days from delivery to bank.

The buyer can speed it up. An order completes when the buyer presses Everything is OK, when 2 days pass after delivery with no word from them, or once a reported problem is resolved (Getting paid for a completed sale). If the buyer confirms on the Monday itself, everything moves up 2 days. A claim or an identity check can slow it down, and carrier transit comes before all of it. This is arithmetic on Vinted's numbers, not a promised payout date.

One wrinkle: Seller's safety and support says earnings reach your Wallet in 2 business days, while the Wallet page says 2 days. They agree in the Monday example, but when a weekend falls in between, the business-day reading runs longer, so plan on that one.

Money in your balance is also used automatically on your next Vinted purchase, so withdraw first if you want it in your bank.

What happens if you miss a deadline or the buyer reports a problem?

Miss the 5 business days and Vinted cancels the order automatically, refunds the buyer and gives you automatic negative feedback. The cancellation lands the next business day if Vinted has seen no tracking update and no confirmation from you (I can't send the item on time). What you can do about it depends on where the parcel is.

  • Need more time? Ask the buyer for 3 or 5 more business days. The buyer can accept or decline.
  • Shipped, but tracking is quiet? Press I confirm I've sent the order, so the cancellation doesn't fire while the carrier catches up. Tracking can lag up to 48 hours.
  • Cancelling yourself? You can cancel only before the item ships, and a manual cancel can bring automatic negative feedback. Tell the buyer first and agree on the cancel, and they can edit or delete the feedback (Canceling an order).
  • Buyer reports a problem? A Buy now purchase is protected if the item is significantly not as described, and the buyer has 2 days from the notice that it should have arrived to report it. You can offer a partial refund (not on bundles), a full refund, or ask for a return (Returning an item).

How do you get your listings seen and sold on Vinted?

Vinted gives no performance figure for any of its tools, so treat these as moves its pages describe, not promises. Most cost nothing.

  • Make the listing easy to trust. Use the photos the item needs, show every flaw in the photos and the description, and pick the true condition. An item that's significantly not as described can be returned for a refund (Uploading step by step).
  • Use the exact category. The upload page's own example: men's running shoes belong under Men, Shoes, Sports shoes, Running, not just Men, Shoes. Pick No brand if there isn't one, and keep hashtags of unrelated brand names out of the description.
  • Know your offer floor. A buyer can offer up to 40% below your price. Example: a $50 listing can draw a $30 offer, because $30 is 60% of $50. If $30 is below what you'd take, list higher. Offers aren't binding and you can decline or counter, so a low offer costs you a reply (Making an offer).
  • Counter privately. When a buyer starts a conversation, you can send them a lower price that only they see. Everyone else still sees your original.
  • Bundle. Buyers can combine your listings into one order of up to 100 (Selling multiple items as a set).

Is selling on Vinted worth it in the US?

Listing costs nothing, so the test is cheap. Pull 20 items that sat unsold on your main marketplace, give them one full selling cycle, log every hour from listing to withdrawal and compare net per hour, the way the how many marketplaces to sell on guide tests any new one.

A fair bar, as a rule of thumb: Vinted stays if its net per hour at least matches your weakest current marketplace. The US launch press release (Vinted has landed in New York) is dated January 22, 2026, so this marketplace is new.

Can you sell on Vinted and eBay or Poshmark without selling twice?

Yes, with one routine. Keep one Vinted listing per item, delist elsewhere the moment anything sells, and cancel on Vinted before the parcel ships if the item sold somewhere else first. Vinted doesn't allow identical listings, so for two or more of the same item, make one listing and say how many you have. The double-selling routine covers the delisting habit and which order to keep, and what changes when a listing travels covers the title, category and item-detail rewrites each marketplace needs.

  • An accepted offer holds nothing. The item stays available to other members until the buyer presses Buy now, so don't treat an accepted offer as a sale.
  • Sold elsewhere first? Message the Vinted buyer, agree that they will edit or delete the automatic negative feedback, then cancel before it ships.

What should you do today?

Activate your Wallet now, since an unactivated one can cancel your first order. Then list the 20-item test batch. When the first one sells, put the ship-by date in your calendar the same hour.

Vinted seller questions

How much does Vinted charge you to sell?
Nothing to list or sell. A Bump is the one optional cost. See Is selling on Vinted free?
Who pays the postage on Vinted?
The buyer, at checkout, and the buyer picks the carrier. You ship with the prepaid label Vinted sends after the sale. See How shipping works.
What is the catch with selling on Vinted?
The deadlines. Ship late and the order cancels with negative feedback. Activate your Wallet before the first sale, and expect to wait for payout.
How does Vinted make money if sellers pay no fees?
Vinted's Price List lists the charges payable to Vinted: the Buyer Protection fee that buyers pay at checkout, shipping fees that buyers pay for Vinted's prepaid shipping labels, and paid item promotion such as Bumps that sellers choose. Sellers pay nothing to list or sell. See the Price List.
Is it really worth selling on Vinted?
Only your own numbers can say. List 20 unsold items, time yourself and compare net per hour with your other marketplaces. The US launch is recent, with a press release dated January 22, 2026.

FlowLister turns item photos into complete eBay listings: title, description, category, item specifics, price and shipping, in about 30 seconds. It publishes to eBay through eBay's official Trading API. Its crosslisting add-on posts eBay listings to Poshmark, Mercari and Depop. FlowLister does not support Vinted, Etsy, Shopify or Facebook Marketplace yet, and no dates are set. It's AI, so check each listing before you publish.
