Depop fees for US sellers, worked out

6 min read

US sellers pay no selling fee on Depop. You pay payment processing of 3.3% + $0.45 on the item price plus shipping plus tax, and 12% more on sales that come through a Boosted listing. On a $40 item that processing comes to about $2.11, per Depop's fee page as checked on September 23, 2026.

What does Depop charge US sellers?

Depop charges US sellers one fee on a normal sale: payment processing of 3.3% plus $0.45. Depop's Help Centre says it's charged on the item sale price plus shipping costs and any taxes, so it runs on money that never reaches you. There is no selling fee for sellers based in the US, the UK or Australia.

Does Depop still take 10%?

Not from US sellers. Depop removed its 10% selling fee for US-based sellers on July 15, 2024, for new listings, and its Help Centre still lists no selling fee for sellers in the US, the UK and Australia. Sellers outside those three countries still pay 10% on the item price.

The old 10% still turns up in AI answers. When we asked Perplexity on September 23, 2026 which of eBay, Poshmark, Mercari and Depop has the lowest seller fees, it said Depop's fee is "typically 10%". For a US seller that's out of date by two years.

What do you keep on a Depop sale?

On a $40 Depop sale you keep about $37.89 if the buyer paid $8 shipping and 6% tax, because $2.11 of processing comes out. The fixed $0.45 and the processing on shipping weigh most on cheap items: fees are 10.6% of a $10 sale and 4.2% of a $100 one.

Worked example, not a quote: the buyer pays $8.00 for a Depop Shipping label and sales tax of 6% of the item price. The shipping pays for the label, so it isn't in "you keep", and your item cost isn't either. The Boost column adds 12% of the item price. Try your own prices in the net proceeds comparison.

When does Depop's 12% Boosting fee apply?

Depop's Boosting fee is 12% for US sellers, and you pay it only when a sale comes through a Boosted listing. Depop charges it on the item price, excluding tax, plus the shipping cost if you didn't use a Depop Shipping label. The 12% rate covers US and UK listings created from March 23, 2026.

On a $40 item, a Boosted sale turns $2.11 of fees into $6.91. Boost only earns that back if the item wouldn't have sold at the same price without it.

What do buyers pay on Depop?

Depop buyers in the US pay a Marketplace fee on top of your price: up to 5% of the item price plus up to $1, not counting tax and shipping. It started on July 18, 2024. The buyer pays it, not you, and Depop refunds it in full if the order is refunded.

It matters when you crosslist, because other marketplaces add different buyer fees to the same price. A $40 item with $8 shipping costs the buyer a different total on each one:

Buyer-side fees on a $40 item with $8 shipping
MarketplaceBuyer feeOn a $40 item + $8 shipping
DepopMarketplace fee: up to 5% of the item + up to $1Up to $3.00
MercariBuyer Protection: 3.6% of item + buyer-paid shipping$1.73
VintedBuyer Protection: $0.70 + 5% of the item$2.70

How does Depop compare with eBay, Poshmark and Mercari?

The same $40 item nets more on Depop than on eBay, Poshmark or Mercari, because Depop takes no selling fee from US sellers. With the buyer paying $8 shipping and 6% tax, you keep $37.89 on Depop, $35.20 on Mercari, $32.75 on eBay and $32.00 on Poshmark.

Fees are the smaller half of the decision. Depop describes itself as a marketplace for secondhand fashion; an item that sells this week where its buyers are beats a lower fee where it sits. Choosing the second marketplace comes first.

How do you crosslist to Depop without selling twice?

If an item is live on Depop and somewhere else, a sale on either one has to end the other listing within minutes. Keep one record of where each item is listed and delist from it the moment a sale lands. The delisting routine sets it out step by step.

Software helps, and it has gaps. FlowLister, the tool we make, writes the eBay listing from your photos, and its Crosslisting add-on, in beta, posts that eBay listing to Depop, Poshmark and Mercari from your own Chrome browser. It checks Depop and Mercari for a sale only while Chrome is open, and its own page says the step that ends the eBay listing after a sale elsewhere hasn't acted on a real sale yet (flowlister.com/features/, read September 23, 2026). Keep the manual check.

Depop fee questions

Does Depop still take 10%?
Not from US sellers. Depop removed the 10% selling fee for US sellers on July 15, 2024, and its Help Centre lists no selling fee for sellers in the US, the UK or Australia. Sellers elsewhere still pay 10%. US sellers pay 3.3% + $0.45 payment processing instead.
How much does Depop take from a $100 sale?
$3.75 if the buyer paid no shipping or tax: 3.3% of $100 plus $0.45. With $8 shipping and $6 tax the processing fee is about $4.21, because Depop charges it on the whole order. A sale through a Boosted listing adds 12% of the item price, $12 more.
Does Depop charge fees on shipping?
The processing fee, yes. Depop charges 3.3% + $0.45 on the item price plus shipping costs and any taxes. The 12% Boosting fee covers shipping only if you didn't use a Depop Shipping label. US sellers pay no selling fee.
Who pays the Depop Marketplace fee?
The buyer. Since July 18, 2024, US buyers pay up to 5% of the item price plus up to $1, excluding tax and shipping. It doesn't come out of your payout, and Depop refunds it to the buyer in full if the order is refunded.
Why are Depop fees high on cheap items?
Because of the fixed $0.45 and the processing charged on shipping. On a $10 item with $8 shipping and 6% tax, fees are about $1.06, or 10.6% of the price. On a $100 item they're about $4.21, or 4.2%.
