Net proceeds calculator for eBay, Poshmark, Mercari, Depop and more

Pick three marketplaces and enter one item. The calculator applies each marketplace's US seller fees, read on its own fee page on September 23, 2026, and charges each fee on what that marketplace charges it on. It runs in your browser and sends nothing anywhere.

Enter an item and pick three marketplaces.

Which fees does the calculator use?

The calculator uses each marketplace's US seller fees as published on its own help or fee page, read on September 23, 2026. Where a fee depends on category or sales volume, the table says which version is built in. Pick Custom for anything else, or if a source page now shows a different number.

Add any that apply to you through Custom.

Why does what a fee is charged on matter?

Because two marketplaces can take very different amounts from the same sale no matter how their rates compare. eBay's 13.6% applies to the item, the shipping and the sales tax. Poshmark's 20% applies to the sale price alone. On a $40 item with $8 shipping and 6% tax, eBay's fees come to $7.25 and Poshmark's to $8.00: 75 cents apart, on rates 6.4 points apart.

The marketplace fee comparison walks through each marketplace's base, with what you keep at $15, $40 and $100.

Why run it at more than one price?

Flat fees and fees on shipping land hardest on cheap items. Poshmark's $2.95 is 29.5% of a $10 sale. Depop's $0.45 plus processing on $8 of shipping is 10.6% of a $10 sale and 4.2% of a $100 one. Run your cheapest common item, your median and your most expensive. If the order changes, that tells you which part of your inventory belongs where.

What the calculator leaves out

  • Your time. A marketplace that runs on daily sharing or live shows costs hours no fee table shows, and every listing takes time to write: an experienced seller takes 4 to 7 minutes to type one eBay listing by hand. FlowLister, the tool we make, does that AI step in about 30 seconds. Price your hours yourself.
  • How fast it sells. An item that sells this week at a higher fee beats one that sits for months at a lower one.
  • Cancellations. A canceled sale can cost money of its own: Mercari reserves the right to charge 5% of the item price, up to $25, when a seller cancels. Stopping double sales covers the rest.

Fee calculator questions

Are the fees in this calculator current?
They were read on each marketplace's own fee page on September 23, 2026, and the table above links every source. Marketplaces change fees without much warning: Whatnot changed its commission two days before that check. If a source page shows a different number, use Custom and trust the source.
Why does eBay take more than its rate suggests?
Because eBay charges its final value fee on the total amount of the sale, which includes the shipping the buyer pays and the sales tax, plus $0.40 per order over $10. On a $40 item with $8 shipping and 6% tax, the 13.6% applies to $50.40, so fees come to $7.25.
Why is Poshmark's shipping handled differently?
Poshmark charges the buyer a flat $6.49 for shipping and supplies the label, so you neither receive shipping money nor pay for the label. The calculator ignores your shipping and label inputs for Poshmark. Bundles over 5 lbs cost the seller the overweight shipping, which it doesn't model.
How does free shipping change the numbers?
Set the buyer's shipping to $0. On eBay, Etsy and Custom you then pay the label out of the sale. For Mercari, Depop, Facebook Marketplace and Whatnot the calculator assumes you pay the label too, and no shipping sits in the fee base. Poshmark's buyer still pays its $6.49.
Does it include sales tax?
Only inside the fee base. Sales tax is the buyer's money, not yours, but eBay, Depop, Facebook Marketplace, Etsy's processing fee and Whatnot's processing fee all charge their percentage on it. Set your buyers' rate in the tax field; eBay's own fee examples use 6%.
